Education

. Projects include marine mammal surveys out of Gloucester with data collection consisting of photo identification and behavior studies along with collaboration with other institutions such as Stellwagen Bank researchers, Center for Coastal Studies researchers, New England Aquarium scientists, and the Protected Species branch of NOAA. Key marine mammal species to be studied include right whales, fin whales, white-sided dolphins and humpback whales.

Funding is being sought  to update our existing Visitor Center.

Additional projected projects will be directed toward improving understanding of endangered North Atlantic right whale habitat use and behavior in local waters and to facilitate the study of this species and other marine mammals via regular vessel-based marine mammal and habitat surveys on Jeffreys Ledge off of Gloucester, MA.
