Right Whale Right Whale

In early 2002 we had right whales around for a few days, including a mother-calf pair. The calf, on right, is probably about 4 months old. The mother is seen here, displaying the highly arched jaw. The closed blowhole is on the right, and the tip of the snout is to the left.
Finback Whale Finback Whale

We often see Finback whales in our study area, and they often feed on the same prey as humpback whales. In this image, a lunge feeding finback feeds on its side near the boat. Note the throat grooves on the right and baleen on the roof of the mouth (left).
White-sided Dolphin Humpback Whale

Periodically we see Atlantic White-sided dolphins in the same area as the other marine mammals, though they typically do not stick around the area for long. Humpback whales are also back in the area, and this one, Reaper, was surface feeding when we saw it.
