Leaping Lags |
 |
 |
| Although we don't see dolphins daily, when we do spot them they are usually this species, a cold, or temperate water, pelagic species. |
Their Latin name, Lagenorhyncus acutus is the inspiration for their slang name, 'Lags'. |

| We're fortunate to often see mothers with their young; the tiniest are affectionately called 'footballs'. |
Like most toothed cetacean species, the bond between mothers and calves, and the rest of their social group, is strong. |
